Alexander L. Gungov Abstract The information on virtual currencies is structured in the form of dictionary items. It covers a number of related terms as digital currency and cryptocurrency, aims at distinguish them from fiat money as well as from e-money and e-gold. Several cryptocurencies are briefly described with an attempt to underline their advantages: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Minacoin, Primecoin, Quarkoin, Peercoin, Darkcoin, dogecoin, etc. Some elements of the social importance of digital currencies are mentioned.
